Inhibe la respiraci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas del hongo, es decir, la transformaci\u00f3n de los hidratos de carbono en energ\u00eda porque las mol\u00e9culas de Chlorothalonil se unen a grupos sulfhidrilos de algunos amino\u00e1cidos. Las enzimas que afectan al ciclo de Krebs se desactivan y no se produce ATP (adenosin trifosfato). Al no poder completar este proceso la c\u00e9lula muere.
